Decorative painting with tips

Decorative Painting Guide - Size/Selection/Budget Buying/Hanging Tips

Selecting the right decorative painting can be a daunting task, but with some preparation and tips, you can easily choose the right artwork for your home. Here are some of my observations and insights that I've gathered over the years that I hope will help you:

1.Size

The size of your decorative painting is crucial. If you're selecting a set of paintings, the total width should be around 0.8 to 1 times the width of your sofa, with the center of the painting at a distance of about 150cm from the floor, as shown in picture. For example, if your sofa is 2.3 meters wide and the room height is 2.7 meters, a set of paintings with a width of 180cm and a height of 90cm would be a good choice. For a single painting, 80cm * 120cm is a good option.

2.Selection

Remember, your painting is the color compression package for your entire home. You can choose your painting first and then buy furniture to match or vice versa, by extracting colors from your furniture to select your painting.

3.Budget Buying

You can save money by selecting your favorite painting and then customizing it. Customization includes the option to purchase the painting core and frame as a complete package. The price of customization generally increases according to the following order: crystal surface > oil painting canvas > cloth pattern film. Frame options include aluminum alloy, wooden frame, or frameless. All of my three paintings were customized, and the quality is excellent, but the price was much lower than that of a finished painting.

4.Hanging Tips

Hanging your painting correctly is vital. Here are some of my insights:

If you're hanging a set of paintings, the distance between each painting should be less than 1/5 of the width of the painting and should not exceed 15cm.

Use a non-marking hanging method, such as magic tape. I recommend purchasing the 3m trial kit, which offers the best value for the price. For my 40 * 40cm painting, I used four medium-sized magic tapes, which can support a weight of up to 5.4kg.

I hope these tips will help you choose the right decorative painting for your home. If you have any questions or suggestions, please leave a comment below.
